Montauk Observatory - The Summer Solstice

What makes the days longer and the nights shorter? What’s the astronomical reason for the warmth in the air? We’ll explore the science of the sun and the sky, as well as the summer festivals that ancient and modern people have created to celebrate the brightest time of the year. Since 2014, William Francis Taylor has been NASA/JPL Solar System Ambassador, giving talks about the universe around us, as well as sharing telescopes and stars with the public. He is also a local tutor and a life-long East End resident. Weather permitting, the lecture will be followed by celestial observing through a telescope. Montauk Observatory would like to thank Montauk Library <> for its kindness in hosting this event, and Mr. Taylor for generously donating his time and expertise. LOCATION: Montauk Library <>, 871 Montauk Highway, Montauk, NY 11954 ADMISSION: Free RESERVATIONS: Seating is limited so reservations are recommended, call 631-668-3377
