One Health Gala to provide animals around the world with access to veterinary care – August 3, Bridgehampton Surf and Tennis Club

My life’s work has been to create an organization that unites veterinarians doing good work around the world with resources, training and global networks.

In 2014, along with the help of renowned wildlife vet Dr. William Karesh, we created the 501 (c) 3 non-profit Veterinarians International, where our mission is to provide veterinary care and training to underserved communities globally. We do this by partnering with like-minded groups world-wide.

Our goal is to train local men and women in sustainable and repeatable solutions that will not only improve the communities in which we work, but also the world. We currently have programs that provide veterinary care to chimpanzees, Asian elephants, donkeys, camels, goats, dogs and cats all over the world.

Given that 60% of human infectious disease arises from animals, we must have healthy animals to have healthy people.

Dr. Karesh coined the term One Health in 2003 to describe this inter-relationship between the health of the planet and the health of people and everything that lives, so this year we will be honoring Dr. Karesh at our One Health benefit this Saturday August 3 at the Bridgehampton Tennis Club. We are elated to have civic entertainment group as our presenting sponsor driving the vision behind our immersive cocktail experience where attendees will have the opportunity to adopt an elephant, chimp, dog or cat’s care at our Animal Adoption Center.

We are pleased to have customized jewelry for each animal from Urban Zen designers Jennifer Anderson and Davison Floyd, a healing herb and spice station uniting human and animal health through food, live music including a gong sound bath with Siri Rishi Kaur and a world class transformative performance by Mezzo-soprano Anna Cley.

Live auction items include private trips to Sri Lanka to see the elephant orphanage that we support and Liberia to see our chimpanzee care program as well as coveted artwork by Steven Klein and Caswell sculpture. After dinner, Jay Schneiderman will lead a drumming session by the luxe bonfire on the beach along with dancing to the tunes of DJ Angelica Morrow.
