Hamptons Trivia Quiz

What is this about?

Take this opportunity to test your overall knowledge of the Hamptons. Many of the questions are based on tidbits you can find in our HISTORY section; others are just common knowledge trivia.

Anyway, there are 3 quizzes - a little like skiing - beginner, intermediate and expert. The first two are kind of straight forward; the expert one is a bit tricky - you have to pay attention to the questions.

How the Scoring Works

On the first and second quizzes, the total score is 100, 10 points for each question - so an answer is either right or wrong.

The third quiz is more interesting - the score is weighted - meaning that we sometimes give you points even for technically incorrect answers because the question may be so esoteric that any one of the answers could be correct based on an educated guess. The post-quiz explanations will clarify these points.

On the other hand, some answers are so way off that you get points deducted if you choose them so read the questions carefully.

Your score and the correct answers are provided at the end of each quiz, and if your score is in the Top 10, your "name" and score are published on the Quiz page.

Since only the "names" of the Top Ten scores are listed on the Results page, we zero out this list periodically, when the list displays only scores between 90-100, to allow contestants with lower scores to be listed.

Rules

These are basically to allow all contestants who score high on their first try an equal opportunity to be listed in the Top Ten.

Enter "your name"

You must enter a screen name so that if you're in the TOP Ten score, your screen name will appear next to your score on the quiz page.

Needless to say, you can get as creative as you like. See Hall of Fame below.

Optional "Email Address"

Please read this carefully!

This is optional - only enter your email address if you want your score emailed to you. The email address does not get posted in the results. The posted scores are completely anonymous - only your screen name and score will appear if you make it on to the Top 10.

If you don't want your score emailed, do not enter an email address.

But especially - do not enter a fake address - all that will do is bounce the email back to me.

Junk email overloads our mail server so please be considerate of the work it requires to maintain this free website.

Each test only once per day

Since the correct answers are provided after each quiz, some contestants have used these to improve their score by taking the same quiz again.

However, this is unfair to contestants who score high on their first try, so there is a 24 hour delay before you can take the same quiz again. This will give everybody an equal chance to make it into the Top Ten list on their first try.
