Getting to East Hampton by Plane
|
| Getting to East Hampton by plane offers several choices. Commercial Airlines There are several options for getting from any of the airports to East Hampton or any of the other villages or hamlets in the Hamptons. TAXI There are taxi services at all the commercial airports, however, due to the extensive distances, fares are negotiated and you should also expect to pay a round trip fare. Fares can be anywhere from $100 to $300, which is not unreasonable since the fare from Kennedy Airport to New York City is approximately $40 and that distance is only about 20 miles. CAR SERVICE Another option is to reserve a car/limousine from a variety of car services, see below. These services usually have a set fee which they will provide you when you make your reservation. CAR RENTAL A third option, and my favorite, unless you have friends who will chauffeur you around, is to rent a car from the airport. HAMPTON JITNEY BUS The Hampton Jitney which runs between New York City and all of the villages in the Hamptons makes two airport connection stops, one in Fresh Meadows (Queens County) for the Kennedy and LaGuardia connections and one in Islip (Suffolk County) for the MacArthur connection. You must make a Jitney reservation first and advise them of your connection schedule. They will arrange for transportation from the airport to the Jitney airport connection stop. A comprehensive list of charter flight services, car services, buses and trains can be found in our DIRECTORY under Transportation. |
